Rob Zombie is a very capable filmmaker. He's also certifiably obsessed with horror films so I think all the intentions are there. This Halloween is an ultra-violent, hyper & campy re-telling of John Carpenter's 1978 film, where I personally prefer the slow suspenseful fear of the original.
It's not a loyalist film to the original & if you look at it that way, it's decent.
