This movie gets a lot of unfair criticism. I understand why, it does have its issue. John Carpenter has been on record saying he didn't enjoy it. He wasn't a fan how much Zombie showed how he became Michael showing his time in prison.
I actually don't mind it as much. It's not a perfect movie, but it isn't terrible.
