Review of Half Nelson (2006) by Liz C — 01 Jan 2009

OK. this may ruin my friendships with some of you, but there's a reason I dont watch a whole lot of IFC/Sundance films. they are well acted. well made. but I'll be damned if they have very little on story and that story doesn't go very far.

That said, this was a good film. but not excellent. plot: a druggie teacher/girls basketball coach befriends one of his student/athletes who is hoping to not get swept into the ghetto. and thats about all that happens. at least that I'll write about so I don't give anything away. in case you wanted to watch all 2 hours to the final "dramatic" scene.

If you are sick like me and need something to hold your attention (barely) for a couple of hours while you rest, by all means.
