Review of Half Light (2006) by David S — 03 Oct 2009
Not bad ghost story that had its ups and downs. Among the ups are a striking visual palette with beautiful location shots of the Irish country side. In addition, the music is nice, the performances are solid, and there are even a nice twist here or there within the narrative that are clever (yet oddly not that surprising).
However, among the downs is a glacial pacing, rather conventional direction, and generally predictable plotting. Nothing is too original here but it's not bad, it's enjoyable to fans of mystery and ghost tales, but others may want to rent "What Lies Beneath" or some other similarly themed supernatural thriller instead.
