Review of Half Light (2006) by Sk C — 20 Apr 2009
Beautifully shot, beautifully edited, beautifully scored, plus competent acting, even from Demi (as the grieving Mom of a deceased five year old who's zonked out on anti-depressants, her blank look and expressionless face are perfect for the role).
Unfortunately the plot is not original and seems to be a hybrid of "Don't Look Now" and "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte". There's also a very cheap reference midway-through to The Shining, of which the director should have been totally ashamed.
A lot of good production values that were wasted on a "been there, done that" type of plot. It's not bad, but it's probably better to just rent "Don't Look Now" and be done with it.
