Review of Hairspray (1988) by Sonika S — 10 Oct 2008
Having seen the musical remake first, I found this a fascinating watch to see how similar the casting choices were, and yet how toned down the PG 2007 version was from the original. This one has just about the same story, but is quite a bit edgier and has that twisted John Waters touch that is still sort of there in the new one, but much more subtle.
