John Water's original is pretty good. Ricki Lake aspires to be the head dancer ont he Corny Collins show and wind sup fighting for intergration as well. Jerry Stiller and Divine are funny as Lake's parents.
It's Mashed potato time. There are tons of funny scenes in this, particularily Waters as the hypnotherapist trying to get Penny to stop liking the black boy. My personal favorite scene has always been Pia Zadora and Ric Ocasek as the beatnicks.
