Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Rob S — 20 Feb 2017
4 stars. Dolby 7.1 surround in cinema. Courage is not good enough to win the spiritual side of the battle without the true conviction of something higher than the human mlnd, which is the love of God in this great war movie based on a true story directed by Mel Gibson.
At the end it is not God you see in this movie but the supreme human spirit expressed through faith. And if the faith were expressed by the courage of winning a war through killings (which is what we see in the recent wars conducted by the terrorists vs the West nowadays), than the faith would have been stained no matter what the justification of the war was, just or unjust.
Killing is killing for whatever justification it is! God can definitely not be an excuse for killings. The terrorists have forgotten that of course but so has the West! But do we have a better choice? I guess not, we can only hope that our souls would not be dragged down to the hell by the death toll of our enemies.
