Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Rebecca31 — 30 Jan 2017
Leaving the not so amazing Spiderman franchise really was the best thing for Andrew Garfield’s career. His recent movies show his real potential as an actor and this is no exception. Vince Vaughn is horribly miscast, thankfully his character has very little to do expect look angry and shout at everyone. The supporting cast are perfectly chosen, even Sam Worthington (I know I was surprised too).
Hacksaw Ridge is an intense war movie that dives headfirst into the violence and true horror of war. Although there’s only so many times you can see a soldier flying through the air in slow motion before it loses its effect there’s no denying the battle scenes are shockingly brilliant. Based on an incredible true story it’s a must see for Mel Gibson fans. However, you will have to sit through a good 40 minutes introduction that was nearly boring me to tears. If you make it through that it’s all uphill from there. Recommended.
