Review of Hacksaw Ridge (2016) by Colby H — 19 Apr 2017
The year of 2016 had a lot to offer. To me, Hacksaw Ridge was a huge stand-out. This movie is based on a true story about, a man named Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield) who is serving in WW2, but he doesn't want to touch a weapon. So he goes on to the battlefield against the Japanese with no gun. His intention is to save peoples lives. Not since Saving Private Ryan have we got a war film that is so emotionally captivating. From the opening scene, I knew that this movie was going to have something special, and it did. I was floored by Hacksaw Ridge. There was not a single thing wrong with it. Everyone who played in it did a remarkable. Mel Gibson is back at it again with another good movie. This is proof that Gibson still has it. The war scenes were well choreographed, and violent. I hate it when people say "Its too gory". It's WW2, what else would you expect? What got me was watching this character achieving what he intended to do. It almost brought me to tears. At one point, I thought that I was going to cry because the movie was that good.
Over all, this film was remarkable. It is sure to be a classic in the future. 5/5 stars.
