Review of Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009) by Kimberly B — 02 Dec 2012
If you love dogs or animals, you will like this movie. I love my dog, and so I loved this story. I already knew the Hachi tale, and I remember thinking (when I first heard about it as a child) that it was one of the saddest things had ever heard.
And now I can say that this is one of the saddest movies that I've ever seen! I cried from the first shot and pretty much never stopped for 2 hours. Sometimes, I sobbed like a baby. I knew this would probably be the case, and so I'm glad I watched this alone, but I also cannot explain WHY, then I still wanted to watch this very sad and incredibly touching film.
Certainly, it won't be for everyone, but if you are a sucker for animals & wiling to cry your eyes out, this movie is for you! Anyone with a heart of stone, no love for dogs, or deeply repressed emotions should skip this.
It's totally Family Safe . . . that is, if you don't mind scarring your children for life with what will probably be the saddest story THEY have ever heard in their young lives.
