Went to watch this one without really reading anything bout the movie other than the fact that it was about a quadriplegic's desire to end his life. Thought, hmmmmm, sounds a lot life "Who's Life Is It Anyways".

I was pleasantly surprised.

The movie was engaging all the way to the end, with some very poignant moments, and some really nice funny moments. The scientific aspects of the quadriplegia are spot on (take a bow, my very close friend and physiotherapist par excellence Indu Tandon, who is the medical advisor), right down to the posture on the wheelchair, the slight breathlessness in the speech etc etc.

Bhansali finally comes up with a movie that makes a point and makes you think about how lucky you are to have all your faculties intact and your arms and legs moving. I disagree with the artwork around Ethan's house, it seems like its in the victorian ages along with Aishwarya's wardrobe. After the debacle of Saawariya and the (in my opinion) overhype of a mediocre Black, Bhansali proves his form in this one.

The cinematography is simply outstanding, each frame has been painstakingly created and lovingly shot.

Hrithik Roshan, in his role as the quadriplegic Ethan, has outdone himself. I predict that he will sweep up most of the best actor awards next year. The pain that he conveys through only his voice and eyes is touching and as I said, it makes you keep thinking about how lucky you are, and also of what you'd do if you were in his place.

Aishwarya Rai is, well, Aishwarya Rai. Very propah, la di da and dressed up in a way no nurse ever would be. Not sure if she was the right choice for this role.

Overall, this is one movie that I urge all of you to watch, even my non hindi speaking friends, as you will come out of the movie with a new outlook to your life and to the lives of those around you.

Take a bow Sanjay Leela Bhansali, you're back in business!!
