Review of Guzaarish (2010) by Nahush P — 30 Jan 2011

Copy or not, there are a lot of positives as far as Guzaarish goes. Bhansali impresses again with his direction; the production design is beautiful even though the script does not always flow well and most of the songs are dull and in distracting english.

The acting by both Roshan and Rai is very good; though I'm not a fan of Hrithick's feminine dancing. Nafisa Ali's acting and lines was quite ordinary though. Also, I was disappointed by the magic, it seemed so artificial (just like Illusionist) instead of feeling organic as in Prestige. Bhansali got carried away with it looking beautiful rather than realisitc. The movie does drag in the second half getting a bit too melodramatic, especially Hrithick's last speech.

Overall, though not great, Guzaarish is still a decent movie thanks mostly to its visual appeal.
