Review of Gunless (2010) by Brian D — 13 May 2010
After a failed hanging the famous gunfighter known as the Montana Kid wakes up to find himself in a small Canadian farming town. After a series of misunderstandings he snaps and calls out the local smithâ?¦only to find out the only pistol in town is broken. In order to pay for the gun he becomes a hired hand on one of the farms and as time goes on finds his worldview being challenged. So this is a Canadian film which means no one will see it, which is a shame since itâ??s a solid film. Iâ??ve always liked Paul Gross and he does a great job in the movie with his dry humour. The supporting cast is also good and while none really steal the show none of them are bad. At first glance it might seem a lot of jokes are about American and Canadian differences but I found it was more a case of a fish out of water. Not so much the Canadians being overly polite and peaceful but rather them not understanding the code of the Wild West since itâ??s not what theyâ??re use to. Itâ??s also amusing to watch Gross have arguments with his horse. Issues that people might have with the film is that thereâ??s not much gunplay and has been tagged as dull. It could also be said that the film was like a long tv show. However I myself didnâ??t have any big problems with the movie, finding it a thoroughly enjoyable film that was worth my time and money.
Best Scene: The town folk debating the difference between a tool and a weapon.
Best Line: â??Câ??mon you deaf mule, I did the clicking thing.â??
Rating: Buy it.
