What makes a movie that is well acted, has a good enough script, and is beautiful to look at NOT be a good movie?! Is it the direction? The editing? Something else? I just don't know enough about movie-making to be able to put my finger on it.
This one has all the ingredients, including the charm of Paul Gross, assorted funny characters, smart horses, witty dialogue, and gorgeous BC views, and still strikes out. "Gunless" does not have any pretensions, just wanted to be a gentle comedy.
Gentle it is, it's (slightly) funny in places, but it just does not work - why?
