Review of Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) by David T — 17 Aug 2007
Starts out great. greatly composed shots of the west, let down only by terrible music, Kirk Douglas playing a very motivated and agile Doc Holiday is fun to watch and Burt Lancaster is fitting as the oak like Earp, but you get bored witht he story, which, just like My Darling Clementine, focuses on the relationship between Holiday and Earp.
There is an interesting subplot regarding a love triangle between Holiday, Kate and the infamous gunfighter, Johny Ringo and another compeeling part regarding the youngest of the Clanton outlaws (A baby faced Dennis Hopper) not wanting to fight and kill, but doing it out of loyality to his family.
But as a whole it really does not pull togtheer that well. Check out John Struges Magnifiecnt Se7en instead, which is fucking tops!
