Review of Gummo (1997) by Tamatai N — 02 Jun 2010
A true testiment to how utterly bizarre yet profoundly fascinating human beings can be as a species, Gummo is probably one of the strangest yet one of the most interesting films I've seen for a while.
I loved the style of the whole thing - the way it was shot, the different types of footage used, the editing and seemingly random side-plots - and admired how it seemed to feel both genuine and surreal at the same time.
Backed up by a brilliant soundtrack, Gummo is a unique film experience that I'd recommend to any hardened film buff who isn't easily offended.
