Review of Gulliver's Travels (2010) by Eirin H — 30 Jun 2011
Jonathan Swift's original story is good and the adaptation was kind of interesting, but it seemed to have been thrown together without anyone being too bothered about the result. Actingwise, varied.
I don't normally single people out like this, but really my main problem with this movie was Emily Blunt. I don't know why, but she seemed to give her character some kind of half hearted (if that!) and very rushed pantomime treatment.
I didn't believe in her character for a second and it didn't seem like she'd put much work or effort into this movie at all. Although I'm sure that wasn't the case. I've seen her do a good job in other movies, so I don't know what went wrong here.
I always like Jason Segel, and Jack Black did a good job too.
