Review of Gulliver's Travels (2010) by Mark James A — 16 Nov 2013
King Theodore (Billy Connolly): Please remember your indoor castle voice.
This was disappointing and I liked the cast. I normally like Jack Black's movies (Shallow Hal, Be Kind Rewind, The Holiday and School of Rock); he can be very charming and engagingly funny but even I must admit this wasn't his best effort. I also adore Emily Blunt, I'd watch her in anything and ever her gargantuan talents can't save this movie's enormous shortcomings, which is really too bad because the premise is there, they had an ensemble more than capable of delivering the laughs. It had the potential to be so much better, but alas like most films, story and character development suffered in favor for super-cool special effects, which was the best part of this film but even that didn't help the overall feel of the film.
