Review of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) by Michael C — 10 Nov 2008
Outstanding movie detailing racial tensions when a white young woman brings her black fiancee home to her family. This movie takes a much lighter tone to race than overly-aggressive previous and future attempts, but it has more sincerity and realism in its message than most of those films as well.
Tense moments aren't played with cheesy dramatic music, but the actors (great across the board) are allowede to build genuinely strong moments with strong performance. Not overly stereotypical, but instead a film that feels as if it has a strong sense of honesty.
