Review of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967) by Josh H — 04 Jan 2009
It's interesting how times have changed. We've (well, most of us anyway) kind of flip-flopped. Back then, race was more of an issue and the fact that they are getting married so quickly is rather secondary.
Where as now...I'm sitting there thinking, MAN! Why are they in such a rush? :) But either way, it's a really interesting, fun movie that really slaps you in the face with the issue of race back then.
..it was definitely a very bold movie. I thought the opening half hour was really great, with the breaking of "the news" and everyone's reaction to it and the daughter's complete obliviousness to why it's an issue.
There are so many comments made during this movie by various characters that are just so funny now. Overall, it's a charming movie and definitely worth checking out.
