(1967) Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.
DRAMA.
Does not really have a plot per se but does consist of picture perfect enviroment like something out of a Normon Rockwell painting and very chrismatic dialogue and characters from it's stars especially from Spencer Tracy (on his last screen role) as the girl's father! Considering the time for which it was made during interracial America which was in 1967! The film states a situation (complicated during it's time)involving a young couple announcing a marriage engagement to each other to their parents for their approval since they're indifferent in terms of their race- who is a young African American man John (Sidney Poiter) engaged to a young Caucasion girl named Joey (Katharine Houghton)! That although viewers know how this film is going to turn out, the film does a good job to avoid cliches and is civilized about people's reactions and it's responses! One of the few better films about interracial relations!
3 out of 4.
