Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) by Jakeyjake — 30 May 2023
As someone who's not interested in Marvel, or any of the movies in the MCU, the Guardians of the Galaxy movies have always excelled at characterization in their films in a way that no other counterpart has.
With characters that are so charming and likable, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 is a grandiose climax, providing one of the most heart wrenching and emotional movies of series, with the typical brand of post-modernistic humor one has grown accustomed to in these films.
This movie is a whirlwind of emotions, you'll laugh one moment, be excited the next and before you know it, you'll be holding back tears. The movie handles these transitions quite well for the most part, there's a handful of moments where the jokes don't land, or the abrupt shift in tone and sentimentality are somewhat jarring, but Guardians of the Galaxy vol.
3 hits more times than it misses, and I can't see fans of the series being disappointed with this conclusion to the trilogy at all.
