Review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) by Elias G — 05 Jun 2017
This movie was a disappointment. From the banter that felt forced and was rarely funny to the meandering plot that was nothing more than vacationing with daddy until 3/4 through the film, Guardians of the Galaxy vol.
2 tries way too hard to ride the waves of the first movie. You can see this from the dance opening only with Groot this time, or the halfhearted attempt to develop a relationship between Starlord and Gomorra wherein at one point they literally break the 4th wall to joke about how bad the ratings would be if they discussed said mutual feelings.
Not worth the money. I'm shocked at the high reviews it's received, when the only redeeming quality was it's very good special effects. You can't call a book good no matter the how pretty the cover or whether the previous novel was amazing: let Vol.
2 stand on its own two feet and you'll see it crumbles quickly into a cascade of bright colors, bland humor, and not much else.
