Review of Groundhog Day (1993) by Ryan V — 12 Oct 2015
Phil Connors (Bill Murray) is a cynical, egotistical TV weatherman who's chagrined to be covering the quaint Groundhog Day ceremony in Punxsutawney, PA. He's even more unhappy to discover that he's trapped in a time-loop that forces him to relive February 2nd over and over and over again.
Groundhog Day is an endlessly likable film that serves as a career highlight for Murray, director/co-writer Harold Ramis, and just about everyone else involved. There's plenty of laughable moments, but what really disarms viewers is the genuine sweetness found in this movie's storytelling and actors.
