Review of Grosse Pointe Blank (1997) by Brendan B — 09 Aug 2009
This movie ought to have been genius, unfortunately the sweet high-school reunion romantic comedy fails to mesh completely with the hitman plotline, resulting in some awkward scenes meant to be funny but ultimately falling flat.
The romance between Debi and Martin is cute and nostalgic, both capturing the spirit of a younger affair. There are moments of inspired comedy in Grosse Point Blank, but they come few and far between and instead of being hilarious, the film is simply pleasant.
The flaws don't outweigh the positive attributes of this film though and you could do a lot worse.
