Review of Grizzly Man (2005) by Patrick F — 24 Aug 2008
I watched this movie last night and I can't get it out of my head. This documentary focuses on Timothy Treadwell a self proclaimed protector of grizzly bears in AK. There are so many shocking things about this video. First of all, I think this dude was absolutely out of his mind! He most likely is suffering from a mental disorder, but his behaviours are so intrigueing that I couldn't stop watching. The film of these enormous bears and their habitat is breathtaking. As crazy as this guy is, you can't help but like him and admire him for doing what he loves and putting his life on the line for it. Ultimately he and his girlfriend are killed and eaten by a bear which may be the least shocking part of the story.
He knew the dangers and lived and died doing what he loved. Ultimately, I think his life and death gave us more knowledge of these amazing animals and hopefully this knowledge will serve to help protect the grizzly in the future.
I would recommend this documentary to any adults interested in watching people push life to the boundaries.
