Review of Gringo Trails (2014) by Jake Z — 20 Sep 2016
Gringo Trails is an explanatory film about tourism and its effects on the environment. The beginning of the film talks about a man who ventures off into the amazon and ends up getting lost. After being found about a month later, he decides to tell his story by writing a book.
Once the book got out, people began to get curious and tourism started to strive in this area. Throughout the film, they gave examples of tourism transforming small, unknown areas into huge tourist attractions.
I thought the film was very intriguing yet disturbing.
