Review of Grey Gardens (2009) by Jesse R — 29 Jan 2008
Little Edie is my hero. Is it wrong that I admire people who are mentally unstable and have a quirky but cogent sense of style?
This film is a touchingly bizzarre portrait of two amazing women born into the restrictive caste of American aristocracy. Aside from this being one of the most quotable movies I've seen--and Little Edie is perfectly marvelous as a philosopher queen, fashion maven, and a peerless animal lover--I respect this film for how it subtly elevates feminism from being a women's issue to being a human rights issue.
Not reccomended for people who fear aging or persons with a fluid grip on reality.
