Review of Grey Gardens (2009) by Karen F — 17 Apr 2009
Fascinating real personalities. Obviously, strangely affected by years alone together without much input from the outside world. But, what was the point of this documentary? The Maysles made no attempt to delve into story and chose only to view them like monkeys in a cage.
We are merely specators watching the animals going about their business. Fascinated by their strange rituals, feeding, accents, clothes, hair & lack of it. In the end, I still know very little of either woman.
