Review of Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) by Steve B — 06 Sep 2010
Now that we all know about Gremlins, the idea behind it and their rules. What sort of sequel can be made and would it be good. At a younger age, Gremlins was quite a scary concept and movie and had it's scary visuals through certain scenes.
This movie tries to add too many elements and older ones to keep Gremlins alive. No wonder there wasn't a 3rd. The main cast are back as in Billy and Kate, but not the rest of the family and just the Futtermans.
Different kinds of Mogwais are produced and look different, then later you get a Spider, Electric and talking Gremlin. This sequel doesn't even have it's scare factor and is just silly all over.
The best thing for me was Phoebe Cates in a uniform, showing a bit of leg. Haven't times moved on.
