Gremlins is, in a word, fun - the kind of silly, dark fun that you don't find in most movies today. However, this movie also brings an original mythology to the table, and it has some amazing visual effects and puppetry.
It's obvious some scenes are filler, but this movie doesn't stretch out the plot too far. Gremlins is an entertaining horror/comedy for the entire family. . . as long as you fast-forward through the Santa Claus story.
