Review of Greenberg (2010) by Daniel V — 21 Sep 2012
What makes this slow yet well acted story worthwhile is the strange yet compelling chemistry between Ben Stiller and Greta Gerwig. Stiller's Roger is not a likable guy in this, and many may wonder why Gerwig's Florence even likes Roger.
Just released from mental hospital for a nervous breakdown, Roger is OCD impaired, paranoid, angry 40 year old never was. A dude who turned down a record deal, because he felt the band's creativity would be stifled if they signed with a major label.
Florence, in her own words needs to "stop doing things just because they feel good." We definitely see why he likes her. A very eccentric love story. If you are looking for a happily ever after rom com, look elsewhere.
If you are looking for a love story with a bit of dark comedy, you've come to the right place.
