Review of Green Street Hooligans (2005) by Kyle S — 22 May 2012
Bloody good movie, mate! Normally, when I begin watching a movie with a bunch of thick foreign accents, I know it's going to suck because I'll spend 90% of the time trying to decipher what everyone is saying.
.. well, I still had to do a lot of that during this movie, but it didn't really matter. GSH is packed with entertaining fights, and more importantly, information. Everything finally makes sense now as to why soccer is such a popular sport around the world! The main draw to the game has nothing to do with the actual sport - it's all about the celebration.
It all starts with several hours of pre-gaming to get good and liquored up before the match. Then you go to the match because it gives you a reason to yell and fight. Afterward, if you win (or if you lose), it just gives you a reason to go out and drink some more! Win, Win.
But anyway, the movie was very entertaining, interesting, and a bit unpredictable, so it's definitely worth a watch.
