Review of Green Room (2016) by Kyle K — 25 Apr 2016
With Vibes of Straw Dogs (1971) and Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), this film does everything right. The macabre mood throughout the whole movie just made me want to see more and what would happen next.
This does not feel like your typical slaughterhouse film but does use the skills from those films and adds a touch more. All the characters must watch everything come to them with the knowledge of knowing the can't do much but will do well whatever the hell they can which gives this film that intensity.
The whole film is shot wonderfully, written very well and brings out the true art behind it and the wonderful director himself Jeremy Saulnier. Yes I can say we need more films like this. Green Room gets 5 stars from me and a must see.
Warning: not for the faint of heart.
