Review of Green Room (2016) by Blake B — 29 Apr 2016
A hardcore, heavy slug to the face. Once Green Room grabs ahold of you, it never lets go. One of the most inventive, and real concepts that I've witnessed in awhile. The joy of this movie ultimately is in the little things; the racial symbolism, the green tint in every shot, or at least one green object in every shot.
The film is conceptually and technically gorgeous. The acting and script is top-notch as well. There are genuinely heartfelt moments set deep beneath the chaos which drives the film to succeed, which it does with flying colors.
An unexpected film with a great mix of horror, violence, intensity, heart, and subtle, but effective comedy. A film-lovers dream.
