When it's good, It's amazing. But when it's bad, Green Lantern is painful to watch. The movie is incredibly unfocused in the beginning and introduces numerous characters who're never expanded upon or mentioned again. To make matters worse, this film has barely a drop of acting talent for almost the entire live action cast. Ryan Reynolds does a decent job, along with Mark Strong who does a fantastic Sinestro. And the CGI aliens are brilliantly portrayed. But just about every scene on Earth is painfully boring or stupid.

However, the silver lining to this cloud is that the scenes off of Earth are all fantastic. Oa is depicted beautifully, and the fight scenes occurring on it and in outer space are fantastic. All of the CGI effects, including the green lantern constructs, are outstanding and really the saving grace of this movie.

For the average movie goer, I can only just barely say this movie would be worth seeing. It squeaks by with outstanding special effects and surprisingly creative fight scenes. Comic book fans, you'll certainly go see this regardless, but don't be surprised when you see deplorable acting from most of the cast and a very scattered story.
