Review of Green Lantern (2011) by Bikerjames — 19 Jun 2011
Being a Ryan Reynolds fan, I was determined to see the film no matter the poor reviews. Maybe it's because my expectations were low, but I was entertained. It isn't perfect. Some of the dialogue is clunky, and it follows the standard superhero formula, but it has some humor and great special effects.
Strange to me that the critics loved the Spiderman movies but don't like this one. Spiderman was also formulaic, but I think Ryan Reynolds makes a better super hero than Tobey Maguire. All super hero movies follow the same formula, just like all romantic comedies follow the same formula, so I think critics are starting to get bored at super hero movies.
I get that. I'm also hoping they come up with something original for the inevitable sequel, but this film was passable.
