Honestly, I'm not very familiar with the character other than the Justice League Unlimited Cartoon. I recall enjoying the character on the show, so naturally I was intrigued to find out more about the Green Lantern.

I know people are giving this movie a bad rap, but I think coming off the coat tails of DC's The Dark Knight, I think people were expecting too much from this movie. I'll admit, it wasn't the most exciting movie of all time and I'm not going to rush to buy it on dvd; but I think with a little tweaking and a stronger script and a more definitive villain (No giant cloud villains) a sequel could be really good.

Speaking of the villain (Paralax), I think people disliked that "character" so much because there was little to no development on his part. It was a quick origin story told in flashback and that's it.

Also, a superhero movie is only as good as it's villain, and a giant cloud isn't something a person can identify with or become interested in. If the villain were, say, Sinestro when he uses the yellow ring, it could've been more interesting since it was a more thought out "fall from grace" type of story.

As I stated previously, Green Lantern was a decent SuperHero movie but the sequel could use a different screenwriter/writer to give it the action packed fights and witty dialogue an actor like Ryan Reynolds needs to display his talents.
