This is not the best ever adaptation of Great Expectations but is still very good.
The portrayal of Pip is neither one of a weak whimpering man nor that of a Mr Darcy figure and as such strikes an excellent balance.
Estella is also played with care and is both harsh and vulnerable.
I hope someone does a modern adaptation soon (like Cruel Intentions to Dangerous Liaisons) but a good film and deserved of 4 stars.
