Review of Grease (1978) by Eytan D — 30 Jan 2016
Though none of the cast looks young enough to be in high school, "Grease" is a classic movie musical. Everything about it is lovable. Not only does it have an infectious energy to go along with its catchy and iconic music, but every cast member is game and turns in a fantastic performance.
This early in his career, John Travolta was already a star and proves he was meant to play Danny Zuko from the beginning. And of course, Olivia Newton John is adorable as Sandy. Sure, she's not a terrific actress, but she comes straight out of the gate with tremendous likability and a great voice (can't imagine anyone singing "Hopelessly Devoted To You" as well as her).
Stockard Channing is awesome and badass as Rizzo and Didi Conn is a hoot as Frenchy. Add a perfect finale and you have a recipe for a movie to remember and show your kids for the rest of your life. Yep, "Grease" is still the word.
