Review of Gray Matters (2007) by Molly K — 20 Apr 2010
What an endearing and thought provoking film about finding yourself and accepting yourself! We have a new twist on a romantic comedy when Heather Graham and Tom Cavanaugh find themselves falling deeply in love with the same woman.
Plot revolves around a 30-something New Yorker (Graham) that is best friends with her brother. They share everything and love to do everything together until they meet this lady at the park named Charlie (Moynahan).
When her brother proposes marriage to her, Graham is a bit surprised at the suddenness of his proposal but accepts her brother's decision. The night before the wedding after so many drinks, Graham and Charlie kiss passionately and the following morning Graham is very distraught, wondering if she may be gay.
Never having realized she might be gay, Gray's confusion turns to desperation as she follows the "expert" advice of clueless friends, psychologists and strangers. Can she save her relationship with her brother once she discloses that she is in love with his bride? Only one thing is for sure - the laws of attraction are about to be bent all the way on this one! Great gem and the speech Graham gives inside the elevator is unforgettable.
Makes you realize how unfair and disadvantaged gay people are in this society. Great movie and highly recommended!
