Review of Gray Lady Down (1978) by Mark N — 21 Apr 2012
Suffers from 70's movie-making sensibilities that seem laughable compared to modern submarine movies. The ship interiors is massive and not at all dark & claustrophobic. The sailors seem insanely optimistic and at ease with their terrifying predicament and a lack of strong performances makes the inevitable ending all the less satisfying.
I recall watching it several times on TV over the years and that affection makes it a nostalgia piece for me and I forgive many of it's failings.
