Review of Gravity (2013) by Akshita J — 02 May 2015
Don't Let Go!- Gravity is one of the most creative films made in recent years. The film made by Alfonso Cuaron, follows the experience of Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) trying to make it out of space when a debris from the Russian missile strike on an exanimate satellite causes a chain reaction, destroying every satellite on it's way.
The movie starts out as an exciting endeavor when the first chain reaction is caused and the Explorer inhabiting Dr. Stone and Matt Kowalski (George Clooney) is hit with them being the lone survivors. Gravity is not about its storyline or script but about the experience of being in space and getting out of there. Though George Clooney's character dies within the first hour of the movie, Sandra Bullock does not let his presence escape. The suspense throughout is whether Dr. Ryan Stone makes it out of space.
Emmanuel Lubezki's cinematography was different but at the same time well executed. The cinematography brought the movie to life in a surprising way. The entire concept of this movie was to expose the audience to a situation that is beyond our perceptions of the idealistic conditions in space. Both Sandra Bullock and George Clooney gave noteworthy performances which make this movie credible enough to win the appreciation of critics worldwide.
To conclude I would say- Don't go for this movie for a concrete story but go for the experience!
