This movie... first it's NOT about space, or science fiction, or any of that bullshit. There are no lazers, no klingons, no space marines coming in to kick ass --- the movie is a fantastically woven, beautifully filmed, tense, introspective metaphor for traumatic loss and recovery.

Cuaron does a masterful job creating a piece of work that perfectly embodies the disorienting experience of loss, isolation, post traumatic shock and the long slow road to re-entry. Viewed through the lens of metaphorical art (which any great piece of art should be interpreted through) this movie ranks up there as one of the best ever made.
