Review of Gravity (2013) by David B — 01 Jul 2017
Gravity has to be one of the most overrated films I have ever seen. I have watched it a few times to try and work out why this was so hyped but I just don't see anything special about it.
To be fair, Gravity is a decent film. The story is fast paced with some tense action sequences and visually, it is one of the most impressive films I have seen. The big problem is that much of the film is completely implausible. There are several scenarios where the characters (especially Dr Stone) just wouldn't survive. And there are numerous failings in logic. At one point, Dr Stone's oxygen is almost depleted yet Kowalski continues to have a conversation with her. It's glaring plot holes like this that really broke the immersion for me and saw Gravity fail to reach it's full potential.
