Review of Grave Encounters (2011) by Jacob S — 03 Sep 2011

Ever since Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity, these types of movies have been hard to believe and I probably would have liked it better if it came out before Paranormal Activity. I probably would have bought into it too.

Let's get one thing straight, there is nothing original here and this movie is pure formula. As much as I'm getting sick of these types of movies the last 45 minutes were a heck of a lot scarier then Paranormal Activity and The Blair Witch Project.

I was really scared so many thing just kept popping out and you kept hearing these noises. The acting was also pretty good, it was effective and I probably would have acted like that if I was in that situation too.

The ending was a little disappointing. Honestly this is nothing new but the last 45 minutes are pretty scary. If I were you I'd watch it at night, hopefully you won't have nightmares like I did.

2.5/4 stars. Insidious in my opinion is still the scariest movie of the year.
