Review of Grave Encounters (2011) by David L — 07 Feb 2012
This films starts out as a documentary much like the Blair witch project but with a new reality show twist were a group of actors enter a haunted insane asylum where they stay the night to get their best episode to date, unfortunately they are never seen again and we as a viewer are witnesses to their final hours, trapped in the Collingwood insane Asylum.
This film does a lot of good things to be scary even when you already know what happens at the end, each and every character falls into the basic character tropes but even then we are still scared when we see all of the nightmares of the previous patients come to life and plague our protagonist.
The special affects are not perfect but the claustrophobic location make up for its flaws. we see how the nightmarish horrors affect and deteriorate the sanity of our protagonist until they finally fall.
This movie has a couple a big scares and a lot of tension but at the end what made me lose sleep was the final idea of not only confronting your fears but also to be trap with no chance of escape forever trap in a nightmare.
I enjoyed this movie and its a perfect option for any good horror night.
