Review of Grave Encounters (2011) by Jeff H — 22 Feb 2012

Another pretty good idea wasted on a shitty delivery. All of the actors are annoying as shit, and the main character is the biggest douchebag of them and you see/hear nothing but him for extended parts of the movie. I know the film's kind of mocking those ghost hunter shows but at least show some good qualities in the characters otherwise no one's going to care. Oh and they completely ripped off the 'water from another dimension' death from [REC] 2, which is just sad.

Oh well, the film does have a good first half setting up the mood and after awhile it started feeling more surreal than your typical ghost movie, which also had a good solution to the old "why don't they just leave" question. If you're into either ghosts or the hand held camera genre than check this out, otherwise pass.
