Review of Grave Encounters (2011) by Andy O — 26 Oct 2012
Grave Encounters is one of the better "found footage" films in recent times. The plot was well-set, basically a horror show gone wrong. The setting was intense, the atmosphere of the movie itself being very creepy. The performances from the actors were mediocre, however Sean Rogerson who plays Lance Preston the show's host was pretty good.
The movie keeps up its pace for a good 45-50 Minutes or so, the plot intensifies and thickens with some very incredible twists and scares. Beyond this, is where the movies loses a point. From the 1 Hour mark onwards, the movie drastically starts loosing control and begins collapsing on itself with some "not so scary" scenes and it seems as if it's trying too hard. Somehow, the movie saves itself with a good fear gripping 10 minute finale, which has adds a good twist to the movie.
It will leave fear lingering on you by the end of it, you will genuinely be scared, and it has its fair shares of jumps and scares. In a nutshell Paranormal Activity+The Ring On Steroids. You will not be disappointed.
